SYSTEM OF BUILDING A COMPETENT PLAYER

Players capability of handling the ball determines everything. It is the most basic component of the game.  If the player doesn’t handle the ball the way he wants, there is not much fun left for him both at the practice and at the match. Right next to ballhandling stands footwork.  Also player’s feet must follow the orders from his/her brain. There are very specific rules of motor learning to be followed to be successful in bringing up a competent player.

STRONG ATHLETE IS A BASIC REQUIREMENT

Strength development, besides basketball itself, has the biggest potential for improving basketball performance. Its value is in injury prevention, it boosts all other motor abilities such as speed, stability, balance, local and overall endurance etc. However, body-weight based strength training is usually very neglected in youth basketball training programmes. It would be a huge mistake to keep going on without ST. Going with light resistance equipment at the practice, coach can put another log into fire of strength training program. It is not necessary to go to specialized centre, all work can be done in basketball gym.

„MOVEMENT GPS“

Speed is the king! No doubts. One who has mastered all kind of moves at the highest possible speed is predetermined for success in team sports. Wide-range basis of  movement patterns is the key. Successful athlete must be capable of moving in all possible directions, he/she has to combine many specific movements together in order to stand his place under the pressure of opponent. Acceleration, deceleration, change of direction, coordination of  arms handling the ball and legs running around. Basketball has many specific tasks for player to complete at any given situation.
